What is Crossfit?

CrossFit is a fitness program that is fun, challenging and extremely effective.  Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing.

The workouts that we do are scalable to EVERYONE’S individual abilities – even those who have never trained can do CrossFit. If you are a committed individual regardless of your experience, then this is the program for you.

We scale load and intensity; we don’t change the program. The needs of Olympic athletes and our grandparents differ by degree, but not kind. Military, Police Officers, skiers, cyclist, businessmen, students, grandparents and housewives have found their best fitness from the same regimen.

Our short workouts will improve all aspects of your fitness including strength, endurance, stamina, agility, balance, speed, power, flexibility, coordination and accuracy. In short CrossFit is constantly varied, functional movement preformed at a high intensity.

What is “constantly varied”? Constantly varied means that it is ever-changing and that nothing is the same.  Routine becomes the enemy.  We need to strive to have capacity in everything we do and to expose ourselves to things that we don’t like to do.

What is a “functional movement”? Functional movements are compound movements, meaning they are multi-joint movements.  They are safe, natural, effective, and efficient locomotors of body and external objects.  They work our bodies from core to extremity.  However, no aspect of functional movement is more important than being able to move large loads over long distances, and to do so quickly.

What is “high intensity”?  High intensity is defined as a lot of work done over a little bit of time.  Intensity is almost always the independent variable and is individually defined.  Over time your intensity will increase. Intensity is the variable that will give you results.
