Athlete Profile – Jerry Hall

Jerry Hall took on the 10k at the Turkey Trot and there is NO DOUBT he got after it!

Tell us about yourself…. I have lived in Cache Valley all my life. Grew up in Smithfield, built my first house there then decided to venture out to Richmond. We are on house number two out here and will probably call it good for a while. It is lots of fun changing but my wife thinks they have to always get bigger so it is time to shut her down…ha ha! I’ve been married thirteen years, we have four children three girls and one boy, they are a hand full but lots of fun if the four of them can make it to adulthood with us for parents it will be a miracle…

What is your day job? I own, operate and am a slave to my company…Hall Drywall. Well my wife actually runs it i just go to work and try to make her some money so she will let me back in at night!!!! just kidding… She does a lot for the company though.

How were you introduced to CrossFit? Last year i started doing triathlon and some 5k’s, and 10k’s with my friends from Richmond and these people wearing CrossFit IoTA shirts always finished in front of us so this winter when things slowed down I gave Paul a call and asked if he had room for one more gym rat. Loved it from day one!!

What is your favorite WOD or Lift? pull ups , and who doesn’t like thrusters

What is your favorite skill/movement that you have learned at CrossFit IoTA? Those wall walks were a blast! I know some thing is definitely wrong with that…

How has CrossFit changed your life? I can finally catch my wife when she tries to get a way!! well im close any ways.

One word to describe me would be… ambitious

I have always wanted… some one to say you are the winner heres that billion dollars !!! yah that would do it..

Outside of the gym, I like to… ride my bike, meet new people, work and pick on Kolett Lewis!

Three things you would always find in my fridge… milk, yogurt, cheese and apples and diet coke but that is my wifes get your own!

Something nobody knows about me or would be surprised to know about me… i actually have feelings… I think..

Favorite physical activity outside of CFI… toss-up between swimming and biking

Favorite place to eat in Cache Valley… Hamiltons, texas road house any where there is a good rib eye steak with my name on it..

Song(s) that gets me pumped up for a workout… Coach Paul’s 6:30 a.m. sat playlist loud and for adult ears only…

The last thing I ate was… baked potato with all the fixings

My proudest accomplishment is… after all this my wife still kisses me good night

My six month goal is… six pack abs.. i know they are there i just need to get all of this fat off them.. wish me luck!

If I could have ANYBODY (living or dead) over for dinner, it would be… President Obama. I’d tell him we need our bail out aswell before those presses run out of ink!!!!

My favorite workout attire is… shorts and a tank top

My favorite workout partner(s)… any one who gives it all they have… I always need someone to chase.

If you created a WOD and named it after yourself what would the workout be?
“To hell and back”
500 yard swim
50 pullups
50 burpees
50 situps
50 thrusters with 95 lbs
20 wall walks
50 double unders
1000m row

What more can I say about Jerry. As you can see he’s got a great personality and at the Box he works VERY HARD. I’ll never forget the day he said, and this was after about a week or two of him coming to the box, “I’m sick of you kicking my butt. You have to come swimming with us so I can kick yours!” And ever since then I’ve been swimming once a week with Jerry, John and Sherick and can confirm that they have been killing me. I look forward to Wednesday morning swims with that crew. I really appreciate Jerry’s drive to better himself and help others along their fitness journey too. Thank you Jerry for making our CrossFit community a better place to be and for bringing your A game!! – Coach Paul
